It Is Not Always Obvious

This past Sunday, about 90 minutes outside of Beijing at a place called The Commune by the Great Wall, Kristine and I got up at 4.30am to walk the Great Wall before sunrise. We were dropped off on an isolated path and were told to ‘walk that way’ through broken English. The pathway was dark, rough and we were very unsure if it was the right way. We stopped, uncertain whether to proceed any further, but we decided to take our torch and explore a little more. It was not obvious that the Wall was ahead, not until we were right upon it.

We then climbed up on a part of the Wall that had not been renovated, then proceeding to the part of the Wall that had been totally renovated but was not open to the general public. It was pretty special to have the wall to ourselves, with the sun coming up, Kristine and I were totally amazed at what we were experiencing.

Here is the message—we almost decided to turn around and go back to the Hotel as the path to the Great Wall was not obvious. Some of the pathways to your goals will not always be obvious, your success to others will not always be obvious and steps towards the achievement of you goals will not always be obvious at first.

This is why you need to have a clearly DEFINED VISION of what you want. LET GO of the expectations of how you are going to achieve it and take the FIRST STEP towards your goal, the NEXT STEP will appear.

Always remember this wonderful quote ... The world stands aside for the person who knows where they are going!
